I have referenced Strengths in some of my previous Essential Living posts and although I still will, they have become such an important part of my empowerment journey, I thought they deserved a section of their own. I will dive deeper into the Strengths themselves, their meaning and how they work within your dominant domains. Before I jump in, here are a few references pertaining to learning about Strengths you may want to check out as well.

You will be amazed at the amount of information he provides and his incredible insight into Strengths and life in general. I can honestly say that his knowledge and the way he shares it has changed my life! Of course, there is a lot of information on Gallup’s website as well but I feel like that is more like a textbook version and Eddie gives a real life depiction of living in your Strengths. In fact, he is the one that ignited my passion. I had taken the assessment about a year prior to being introduced to him, thought the results were interesting but didn’t think much more of them going forward just like every other “get to know yourself” quiz out there. It wasn’t until I heard him give a presentation at a leadership conference that they made sense to me in an everyday, real life way. In fact, I almost skipped his session because I didn’t think it was going to be very impactful since I hadn’t thought much of my results. Boy was I wrong!! His depth of the inner workings of Strengths in all facets of life gripped me and I haven’t stopped studying them since.
In the essential oil world we quite often joke about silently assessing people’s oil needs when chatting with them. Now I am quite often silently guessing people’s strengths when chatting with or listening to them, such as on podcasts. I also went back through my blog posts I wrote prior to knowing my strengths and can see them come through even though I didn’t realize it. Knowing what I now know about who I am through my Strengths is the missing piece of the puzzle I had been working on in trying to figure out myself. Given that I am immersed in the middle school world, I can’t help but think how useful this information would be for teens and young adults as they are trying to find their way. So I now use my client’s personal strengths order as a foundation to build emotional intelligence that pertains to who they uniquely are.
I not only notice them show up several times a day in my life, I have learned how to navigate my way to use them in a manner that best serves me and due to my Activator (#2) strength I am incredibly anxious to share with you how to do the same for yourself.
